History
I studied at Middlesex polytechnic London, specialising in Silver and
Metal design. It was a lively and creative environment and I learned
traditional techniques of silver smithing alongside a sculptural and
design based approach. After leaving college I was awarded a New
Craftsman Grant from the Craft Council of Great Britain. I joined Craft
Atelier, a collective of workshops at 27 Old Street, London E.C.1, where I
built up a practice undertaking a wide variety of designs as gifts for
clients from the corporate to the individual.
From 1980 to 1994 I traded
out of the newly renovated Covent Garden Apple Market. This soon became
one of London’s premier tourist destination, and I made a living selling
directly to the public, developing skills at this time and producing a
wide variety of jewellery and small silver work.
In 1994 I emigrated to New Zealand to start a new life, and settled in
Devonport…I joined the Gallery 3 Collective which continued to operate on
Devonport’s Victoria Road until March 2007.
I moved my workshop into 14A Clarence Street Devonport in 2002. After
the closing of Gallery 3 I now have a retail outlet from the Clarence
Street Studio.
I sell my work through twenty outlets New Zealand wide - and have had two
solo exhibitions since moving to New Zealand..
